Man-jobs (as Den calls it)
So it all started this past Christmas when I was up visiting my in-laws in the far north. We got a phone message from our neighbours. A little worried that they were calling to say that our house had burnt down, I quickly called them back. As it turns out, I had forgotten to turn off the water supply to my outdoor taps... and as luck would have it, my pipes burst. To the rescue my good neighbour Scott capped off the broken line (which was by the way shooting water into the middle of my back yard), thus temporarily solving the problem.
Well, now that we are moving into summer and my wife is back at tending to her beautiful gardens with love, it's kinda hard to give them absolute perfect love without water. So it was up to me to put on my plumber pants (crack included... and also almost never worn!) and give a little love to this old house.
Laying under the house in the crawl space, trying to act manly, filling my lungs with dust and getting high on pipe glue, I came to the realization that life is good. These days I have been acting as Super-Dad, while moon-lighting as a rockstar. And none of this would be doable without my Super-wife. I hope that even in the crap jobs that get sent your way (in my case, because of my own stupidity), that you are able to say that life is good.
