Art!

Well I finally did it… I put up my paintings for everyone to see. I’ve been meaning to do it for a while now just never got around to it. Look to the right on this page you’ll see a link to “Denis’ Art”… that my art. In case you don’t really know that you can leave comments on the blogs, you can… and I would love it if you would leave comments on my paintings, let me know if you hate them, or love them.

I think that Christians have dropped the ball regarding art in our communities. I can’t even remember once as a young artist being encouraged about my art by the church. Art is super important. I believe artists are as important as doctors and lawyers in our communities. Think about this… how do we gain information about ancient societies? Their art. Their writings. Support art, encourage art, and create art, even if you are not an “artist”. It’s good for you to be creative, it’s good for you to share, and it’s good for you to be active in your community artistically.

  • Hey,
    Great stuff!
Between you and your music / art talent and Rob's music / interpretive dance moves ... i again am speechless. but...
Great stuff ... work i mean.
I agree on the art thing being dropped. I'm reminded that words are but a small avenue of expression and communication.
I am constantly running into people who believe they are inconsecquential in life just because they have a difficult time saying what they feel or because they never have the forum in from which to say what they want to. Maybe its confidence, self-esteem etc. whatever it is, it stifles. Get out the canvass, journal, reef on the didj, clean the dance floor, lets boogy!

We have pastel paintings too. My son Drake has a few in our home, framed and fabulous - now there's a quiet guy bursting with confidence! He knows the abilities God has given him ... just one of the billion ways life is joyful... using what He's given you.

    aaahhhh ... quiet burstings.

  • Hey Shane, have a good Christmas?

Funny I never really think about art being a good way to communicate for people that have trouble saying what they think, I like that viewpoint. I guess I usually just have way too much to say!

I'd love to see Drakes paintings someday,

  • Christmas was sweet ... we VIA trained it to Winnipeg to mom and dads. We did absolutely nothing for 2 weeks. AAAAHHHHHhhhhh. Great time!
Hey ... Brenda wants your brother ... wait ... she wants the painting "brothers". How do we do that?
Again, love the work ... Drake was checking it out today and was quietly impressed and i believe he's making plans for future plastelling.

    Christ's peace.
